The long game

I find the philosophical thought experiment about The Ship of Theseus to be incredibly interesting.

We ponder the same paradox when we say “ this was my grandfather’s axe”, which has had the head replaced twice and the handle five times. You could equally ask whether you are the same person that existed in 2017 now that every single atom in your body has been replaced.

Anyway, it turns out someone has been playing a very long game with The Ship of Theseus wikipedia entry. First published in July 2003, the article has been edited 1,792 times over the following 20 years.

The percentage of the original article that remains…?

Zero!

Is it really the same article!? 😂

Some absolute legend has spent twenty years committed to this profoundly pointless project, and I utterly love it.

There’s probably a pertinent point to make about the value of playing the long game as a solo pro, but I’m too tired to articulate it well because I really need a break, so you’ll need to infer that lesson yourself.

P.S.

Thanks for sharing your adventures with me in 2023, and for letting me share some of my adventures with you.

I’m incredibly excited about next year. The Solo Program is launching in mid February, and the first cohort of awesome peeps is committed and building quickly. Send me a message if you think you could use a little helping building your solo business in 2024.

Have a great break peeps. I’m going to sit on the beach, read some books, write a book, record some videos, dig some holes with my excavator, and hang out with my kids. Hopefully you’re getting a chance to do what you love with people you love. See you next year.

Col.
